Reclaiming Calliope: Freeing the Female Voice Through Undomesticated Singing

My book Reclaiming Calliope: Freeing the Female voice through Undomesticated Singing is being released August 2nd.

Writing it took ten years; the journey was both humbling and thrilling. I thought it would be easy as I had been singing and teaching for over 25 years when I put pen to page. But the truth is I had so much to learn through articulating my life with voice.

I am going to share excerpts over the next 7 weeks leading up to the launch.

Today’s content includes 1) the Cover, 2) the Table of Contents and 3) two endorsements from the praise page.

From the Praise Page….

With a consummate understanding of human anatomy and physiology and with immeasurable compassion for the body’s intuition, Fides plumbs the depths of the human voice, weaving its flesh and spirit together in order to unleash its true potential. This deep dive into the siren call left me digging the mermaid and brought tender tears to my eyes. Just listen. This is a love song to the human voice.
—PAUL DE JONG, voice teacher and coach/cohead of coaching, Stratford Festival

Fides manages to combine an intensely personal narrative that includes intimate and family relationships with a deep knowledge of how our stories affect vocal presence, range, and the ability to assert ourselves whilst still communicating from the heart….
An essential contribution to the practice of voice within a holistic vision. Krucker’s courage is exemplary in shining a path toward recognition of the intrinsic value and uniqueness in every voice, beyond cultural and societal constraints.

—KEVIN CRAWFORD, voice teacher; founding member of the Roy Hart Theatre; former MFA program director at Accademia dell’Arte, Arezzo; and coauthor of Roy Hart
